Just upgraded to v2.1.0.2 with the help of a developer. He migrated all my images into the image manager. However, all of my folders disappeared and the hundreds of images are now scattered all over the place. So I tried to open folders just to find out that I cannot drag the images into folders. Is there a smarter way to put images which is already inside image manager into folders? Other than to download them and the go into the respective folder and upload it back?

Usually, on a well-done Server, a Customer has access to some tools, to use, and one of them works like a Windows Explorer. By Use of this Tool, you will be able to create as many Image Folders as you like, and you can bulk-move your images into those Folders again.

Or then, just use an FTP-Client, then, you are able to do the same, usually easier, faster, and more transparent too, compared with Server-based Tools.

Your Image-Manager is nothing but a tool, it does not 'have' any folders, most of them just access/display existing folders within your Shop Software on the Server. Some Image-Managers are a bit more sophisticated in handling, when it comes to bulk-move images, or 'handling' Subs, e.t.c., still, FTP-Access is by far the most efficient way, to even BULK-MOVE images, within the Server, into their corresponding Folders again.

The only problem could be, that you possibly have to re-set every image-link to it's product again, because in the DB, those images are linked to somewhere/something, and visible only, if somewhere matches the real 'sub(s)' on the server, where those images exist.

Possible DB-Content Lines:

Code: Select all

data/demo/audio.jpg
data/demo/pc/general/pc-bilder-oben.gif
data/demo/pc/compaq/presario/compaq_presario.jpg
Good Luck ;)
Ernie

One more hint: After you have it all done, completely clean out all your cached image Sections, or you have a good chance, to carry those surplus Subs and Images forever on your Server, just costing Space, and Time ::)
