Dear friends I've been researching whether to create a separate mobile version of my site or settle for a responsive design/theme. I'm more keen on running a separate mobile site.

My 2 questions are:

- What's your opinion on that matter?

- If I want to run a separate site, what is the best approach to that?

Unlike OC v1 , v2 doesn't have a good mobile framework extension. I've also read multiple threads mentioning that v2 is more mobile oriented and therefore doesn't need an extension for that. Well either I can't seem to find where v2 offers a mobile site and where can I get to it (to customize it) or what they mean by mobile "oriented" is that it's in fact responsive?

I'm asking you dear friends for some guidance on this matter. I'm almost done with my desktop version and would love to start working on a mobile site.

Cheers

As soon as you shrink your Browsers Size, you will probably find out, that OC-2 will react accordingly, resizing your Frame, to make it look, as it should. Just click the link below, and you'll find the different Browser Setting Buttons top right.

It's does not really take more, exept, if you plan to create a real APP.

I have no running OC v.2.x at hand, I ruined some my my DB's, by animalic style handling,
so, I can only offer a rather simple responsive Theme v.1.5.6.x View, but technically, there would be no difference...

if I understud, what you meant... 8)

Thanks for the reply IP_CAM.

I know v2 is responsive but my question was about redirecting mobile users to a separate mobile site (usually place inside of "mobile" folder in root).

I wanted to know what is the best way to proceed with this method.

I also thought that the opinion of some of you who are more knowledgeable than me on the topic of Responsive vs Adaptive. In other words should I stick with the native responsiveness of v2 or go with my plan.

Cheers,

Cheers,
The whole idea behind a responsive theme is you won't have to manage 2 templates, 1 for desktop and 1 for mobile.
As long as your site checks out as mobile friendly at sites like https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools ... -friendly/ and https://www.bing.com/webmaster/tools/mo ... iendliness your search ranking will not be effected by not being mobile friendly.
Bottom line: you don't need a mobile template in opencart 2.x.x.x as long as you don't somehow change something and make the template become non-responsive.
I would look for another problem and solve that.

But, just to mention it, something like this already exists, if one looks for such a Solution:

Omtex - Mobile and Tablet Version (OC 2.0.X, 1.5.X)

Good Luck ;)
