www. vs non www.

Hi All

I have done an upgrade from 2.0.3.1 to 2.2.0.0.

So after the update, my customers domain is now having problems with http://www.domainname.co.uk vs domainname.co.uk without the www.

The icons now look like hieroglyphs?

with www.
without www.

Also the site fails to use ssl even though use ssl is selected in admin settings. I have attempted to alter the both the admin and root config files. but any changes i make either make the problem worse.

Any help with the above would bevery much appreciated
