Help to show product name on payment

I need to show the product name or code (model) on Bank Transfer Payment or Check / Money Order Payment. I googled, but can not find any useful advice. I am newbie. I just know how to modify the .tpl files, but no idea how to modify controller files. Anyone can give me some suggestion? Thanks.
