check here, on what exists, to either try it by yourselfs, or then, get it done by a Pro:
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... %20to%20V2

or read at the Forum, on one of many Topic's related, more about it:
http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=157381

because it's not an Upgrade of your Version, it's a NEW Version, not planned, by Default, to be upgradable, and for FREE :( , from OC v.1.5.x Versions. (Sometimes, even Freeware Creators have to make a living, as we all do!)

Nothing personal, just plain Information.
Good Luck ;)

Hi,

Thanks for sharing that link, looks useful, however when I look at http://docs.opencart.com/upgrading/ it seems to suggest that there's not much required to upgrade?

Is all that necessary, if so how come the official link makes it sound a lot simpler?

If I forgot to mention: it's OpenCart Vv1.5.6

Why do you think had so many users problems with the upgrade and posted here for help?
Why do you think some guys had the 'time' to post here and somewhere solutions?

You can try it the 'hard' way and follow that 'simple' instructions - I am sure we will hear from you again.
Or you can follow the instructions Randem posted - the chance to read from you here about upgrading is very small.

At the end, it is your decision ..

Updating from 1.5.x to the latest version
Updating from a 1.5.x version to the newest version is a simpler process than updating from 1.4.x. To access the latest version of OpenCart, visit the Download page:
But, just to mention it, this is a REALLY BAD Advise, and should have been removed, or at least changed, in the first place... :-\

Yeah that's what confused me, the OpenCart page really needs updating if this is the case!

Yeah, but every Confusion add's to wisdom as well, so, if everything would just function,
this place here would be empty. ;) :D
And as long as such files exist, at least, one know's, to be aware, that it's still not FINAL yet.

Therefore, better keep smiling, and just consider, you, beeing Part of a great big Development
