Hi,

I created a website for jewelry supplies. When looking at a particular category of supplies, the user sees 15 items / page along with a banner on the left hand side of the page that scrolls through all the items in that category one at a time. The problem I am having is there is a category that has around 200 items in it. When you first load the page, it takes about 10 or 15 seconds to render the entire page because there are so many images to load for the banner. I was wondering if there was a way to delay loading the banner images until the rest of the page finishes rendering? That way the page would look more responsive. In analyzing the traffic, I see that the images (about 15K each) only take less than a second to load, but the wait time from when the image is requested to when the download begins is somewhere between 20 - 60ms a piece.

On the home page, I'd also like to have a carousel that shows a selection of items that are available that will also probably end up having quite a few items in it. I don't know if the solution for a banner and a carousel are different, but if they are, a way to delay loading the images in a carousel would be great too!

Thanks!
Herb
