Few Questions On Skinning

Hello All,
I'm trying to get some information on skinning. I have a client who wants to use OpenCart with his site design. Although the site design is much different then the layout provided when first downloading OpenCart. I'm wondering if there is anyone who can help me out with this as I am new to Opencart.
