Popup ONLY to NEW customers/IP adresses - possible?

Hello,

I would need an extension that popus up coupons only to new customers - is that possible?

But now I thought of this, if it worked by excluding the IPs already visited, it can't be OK, because there must be lots of people that already visited the site but still haven't bought something...

Maybe an extension that would know if a visitor has already made a purchase on the site? And than based on that - to popup or not?

Its a little needy, I know, but what can I say, it would be very nice to have this...

I'm working on a banner extension that can be set to only display for guests, or for registered customers with no past orders. It wouldn't include IP validation, but really you'd want that for the coupon code itself (since a customer would already know it, displaying the banner to them isn't the issue -- making sure they can't use the code again is).

If that sounds like it would work for you, let me know and I'll post here when it's done.

I would just have a quick question about the "Rule Based Banners" - so if I choose to display a banner (with coupon code) only to guests, will it also display to already registered customers that haven't logged in yet?

Yes, it would. It would display to any customer that isn't currently logged into an account. There's no easy way to associate non-logged-in customers with an account -- even using an IP address, like you suggest, doesn't work for anyone with a dynamic IP address (or logging in from a different location or device).
