I tried upgrading to 2.0. All was fine and good until I found that my server does not support PHP3.5. I tried to back up to where I had begun but the damage was done.
I tried reinstalling 1.56 which worked but it is now and empty template waiting to be filled.
The 3500+ catalog and images are still on the server but I do not know how to point the empty template to them.
Any ideas? suggestions?

Are you connected to the right database? You'll still have issues but it would get you a little bit further. Have you asked the company you host with to upgrade php or consider moving if they won't?
