default attributes for a CATEGORY extension

Setting up a new website with Opencart 2.0.3.1 and I am getting very frustrated with the lack of drop downs on fields like attributes. The existing drop down only shows the first few attributes.

Is there an extension available that will allow me to create default attributes for each CATEGORY, which are then automatically copied onto new products within that category so that I can then select either a value or enter free text.
