i'm developing an integration module with an invoicing tool. And i need to hook into the default invoice generation and override it.
Is it possible? How would i go about it?

why i need it? because i'm developing a connector to our invoicing tool. i wrote that in the question.
so the vqmod xml abomination is the only solution to this? opencart has no hooks/events system?
i would like the extension to be dependency less of any other extensions. especially ones that modify code on the fly and thus slow the page down
