How to block spam

Hello,

I am wondering how I can block the spam on my website.
Does anyone know how to do this?

I am using OC 1.5.6.4

just add such Fellows, or their Hosters entire IP-Range, to your NO-GO-LIST:
in your .htaccess file. i.E. for the floating-share-buttons.com

The best bet is like Ernie says -- block hosting companies by their ASN, although you dont need software to net-probe http://network-tools.com/

So ASN level locks mean denying every single IP they own. Here is a tool to do that: https://www.enjen.net/asn-blocklist/ Now you need a list of ASN's of bad hosts. These are hosts that operate known spam networks. Here is a starting list:

So lets use OVH. They are terrible, annoying, blatant spam hosts. https://www.enjen.net/asn-blocklist/ind ... e=htaccess Put that in your htaccess to block them all. Alternatively, if you operate a VPS with APF firewall, you can regenerate it as a deny_hosts ruleset and put it into the /etc/apf/deny_hosts.rules file. APF is a bit quicker than htaccess since it uses iptables and is able to block the IPs at a "global" level. Htaccess is just for the APP and child folder schema.

Blocking all these ASN's will reduce your spam by loads.

Althernatively if you run 1.5.6x you can try the stopforumspam blocker mod here http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php ... 3&p=509025 but it doesn't work with IPV6 yet. The owner of SFS has been working on it, dunno when it will support them.
