Based on a reply made by Qphoria I made up this topic.

There are no db changes from 1.3.4 to 1.4. The upgrade instructions that come with OpenCart are not worth following.

How to upgrade from 1.3.4 to 1.4:
1. Backup DB and Files
2. Be sure to change the template to "default" if it is something else.
3. Upload all new files to FTP, overwrite the existing. EXCEPT config.php and admin/config.php Do not overwrite those.
4. Goto Admin page. Hit Ctrl+F5 on your keyboard if it looks all scrambled to update the css browser cache
5. Goto the Settings page and make sure all fields are correct.
6. Click Save and be sure you see the green success message. If you do not, then check each tab for individual field errors.
7. Goto Extension->Module and uninstall the "Currency" module. That file is not supported in 1.4.0 and was not updated. Ignore it or delete it from the ftp area in admin/controller/module/currency.php
8. Goto the Setting->User->UserGroups area. Edit "Top Administrators" and check any unchecked checkboxes. Save
8. Goto the frontpage. Hit Ctrl+F5 if the page looks scrambled. Verify everything is good.

I want to upgrade my site to 1.4.0.

But I have a few questions before I do this.

If I just upload the new version to my site, all my 1.3.4 mods will still be active. Isnt that going to cause issues with newer version?

Edit by i2Paq: With the release of OpenCart 1.4.7 there is an upgrade script that will upgrade from version 1.3.0.
