Its seems such a basic requirement.
I have found this extension http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... show%20sku .
I added the xml to the xml folder but nothing shows in the modifications list.

I'm confused what you're looking for?
I haven't installed anything extra to search by SKU. I copied the sku code exactly how it was entered and the search worked.
Kind of glad it worked when i saw your post as it would be good to use for internal purposes.

Total e-commerce newbie bravely testing OC v2.0.3.1 before rolling it live...getting there slowly, somehow. Maybe not. I dunno.
