Formatting error line 2 colom 40

I'm using the google merchant centre for 2 years without any problems, but, since 5 days I receive errors that there are no products processed. The error is a formatting error for line 2 colom 40. This error comes with the standard google base feed (1.5.6.4). This is why i bought a module "google merchant feed[". Unfortunately this feed is giving the same problem. The creator of the module is not responding to any comments and questions, so i'll try it here.

The fastest is to open your feed in a browser that supports the xml feed. OR provide a link and it should be easy to see where the problem is. My bet is it is the description has some MS word characters that isn't being stripped properly and making google choke.
