Hi,
I am aware that a full migration from 1.5.6.4 to 2.x is not yet possible, however what I would like to do is build a brand new store on 2.x. I do not mind entering my entire product catalog from fresh, however I would like to be able to have the customers use the same login details and still be able to access their previous order history etc. We would also like to have the order history available.
Therefore does anyone know if it's possible to do this?
I would set up the new store on a new domain keeping my existing store running whilst I build the new 2.x store, then when I am happy with the new store, simply redirect the domain from the 1.5.6.4 store to the 2.x one.
So hopefully there is not many changes to the database structure for customer details and order details?
you can export the database, and alter the columns to fit the database in OC 2, then migrate the data you have into the new database.
Readers know I'm not very good I am. The post provides a lot of useful information here.
Hi there. I don't know if this thread is still topical, but if you move orders & customers without products, the relations between products and orders won't be preserved due to inevitable change of product IDs. As the result, order history will be pretty much useless: there won't be any info on what products the users bought but prices only.
If you're willing to migrate data to a new OpenCart version, you'd better move from your old 1.5.x store as much data as possible. For this purpose, I'd recommend you to use automatic Cart2Cart service: https://www.shopping-cart-migration.com ... -migration
