I'm really glad to join this forum believing to find a solution of what i seek.

i know opencart have hundreds of features but i couldn't find what i look for.

the product I'm looking to sell requires customers to pay an advanced half payment.

and the other half when they receive the product.

i tired finding a way to serve my need but i couldn't .

i don't know if there's an extension or a built in feature .

i really got an headache trying to find out a way while I'm sure theres a very simple way but i just couldn't see it.

would anyone kindly help me in this ?

What are payment methods in your site?

Just don't expect to much, This place here is known to get MANY new OC-Users on a daily scale, and by 90 out of 100 Posters, beeing assisted, Assistance is not even being honored with a simple 'tks, it works' reply. As a possible result of this, the're mostly simple commercial Users around here, asking for help and replying to posts, not just Fan's or Freaks, around here, and rather Few Fellows frequently assist others, on a 'friendship bases', mostly those, also doing business by assisting others as well.

Always state, what exactly you 'use' and 'have', before asking any questions, it makes no sense to reply, unaware of the exact OC Version used, it makes no sense either, first to find out, if any what Mod's have been installed. And take your time, to check in the Extensions, and by use of Google as well, what's possibly available, before asking here about it, there is a lot of Stuff around as well, not even placed or mentioned on this Website.

But don't feel bad about it either, it's nothing personal, just the way it works, in a (mostly) free, nevertheless 'professional' surrounding.

You could use this workaround - create a voucher code with 50% off and say its for offsetting the first payment until they receive the goods.

The problem it says that its a community forum in here. Which means we should help each others.

I wouldn't mind if someone going to use it as a commercial way as soon as he's being transparent and direct.

it's kind of a mistake from me not mentioning the version as you said because I used the last version and this is the Version 2 General forum. I thought its going to be clear.

I searched everywhere for this , the extensions , google and I even emailed some commercial developer .

I just found nothing nor replay.

This could be an idea . Thanks for interacting. But it doesn't seem professional and it will mix up managing things .

You're going to need an online payment gateway for this kind of thing, regardless of whether you use the voucher method (as mentioned above) or some other means. COD is fine for receiving the second half of the payment, but is in no way suitable for a customer to pay the first half of the payment.

Once you have an online payment gateway set up, you could include a message to your customers on the checkout page informing them that they can pay 50% deposit (or full payment if they wish) through the online payment gateway and the remainder could be paid COD (ie. when they receive their goods).

Addendum to my previous comment.

You will also need to modify the payment gateway(s) to allow payment of a deposit instead of full price. You will also need a new "order total" method for your deposit system (on the front-end). You will also need some means of setting the amount of deposit, which could be done as an "option" in your store settings You will also need some means of subtracting the deposit paid from the order's total price to determine the remainder the customer needs to pay upon receipt of their order.

No offence intended here, but you need to understand that what you are asking for is not just "help", but a customisation of a payment system which, in reality, would mean hiring a developer at some exhorbitant hourly rate to get it done and cost you a small fortune in the process, especially if this is to be a "one-off" customisation.

However, from an OpenCart developer's perspective, if there is one user who wants this sort of thing, there may be others, which could make it viable for a developer to build something for "general" use/sale at a much more reasonable price. And, yes, this is leading somewhere.

I did some work on a deposit system some years ago for an earlier version of OpenCart (1.4.9) for a project that, ultimately, was killed off, so I still have the code base for this, which could be rebuilt for use with the current version of OpenCart. I'll look into it, but don't hold your breath! I have a 3-year old grandson who interrupts me and pesters me and wants to drag me around all day (and I do mean ALL day), which doesn't leave me with a lot of time to do much else. Sure, it's annoying, but I love him dearly and treasure every moment I spend with him. So, I put up with him interrupting me and pestering me and dragging me around all day (and enjoy the time spent with him). What else can I do?
