hey guys, just installed the latest version of OC. I have some problems with the install and it would appear that no settings are saving in the backend. Creating a new user, or editing module settings do not save.
Also, I have 9+ pages of products but all pages show the same products on them?
Anyone else come across these issues?
Thanks

hey Doc, I feel so much pain, I just don't know where...
Just start from scratch again, and do it, as it should be done. If it still does not work, then come back and, at least, supply a link, so, other can see, how it looks.
No offense...

This was a clean install, and have done another 2 clean installs since. All is fine and everything works fine till I try import my old database. Then settings will not save
Sorry, you did not mention the DB-Import. Someone else may be able to assist you with that.
Good Luck

I have to be honest, im quite disappointed that open cart would bring out updates that, well that can not be updated from previous versions!
This is so stupid, so anyone with older versions of OC cannot "update" but run a new install, and start their entire store from scratch, im talking all users must register again, all products must be imported again etc.
Just seems like such a stupid oversight! For this reason alone I am ready to change to a different ecommerce CMS.
Your thoughts?

Hi deanfourie,
the latest update is quite different, and loading the old database won't necessarily work as the tables are not exactly the same.
If you want help with this step let me know, but DB work is quite painful if you are not experienced in both OpenCart and MySQL.
With regards to the lack of automated upgrades, this isn't unusual even in the commercial world. I've often encountered very expensive applications from Oracle, IBM, etc. that are so differently architected from previous versions that it usually made more sense to do a fresh install. It also gives you the opportunity to undo/remove some of the crap that you have collected along the way.
