Hi there, I hope someone more experienced can offer some advice with this.

How do I set an existing product's option as a special, is this possible? ???

For Example..

If I have say a generic tshirt product at £10, and it has 3 options...

ie...

Generic tshirt
|
|---Red
|---Green
|---Blue

Each option is a tshirt of that colour at £10

But say I wanted to put just the blue tshirt option on special at £6, when I say special I mean so that it appears in the specials module on the front page, with the red discounted price, so that customers know that it's an obvious promotion.

I don't want to create a whole new product, ie a blue tshirt, and then put that on special. I'd just like the blue option, of my existing tshirt product to appear on the front page as a special. And then perhaps when a customer clicks it, it goes to the generic tshirt product with the blue option selected. Can anyone advise on an extension which would allow this? Or a possible workaround which gives a similar result?

This is to avoid having to create duplicate products when it is only a certain type/option of an item that is on offer.

Grateful thanks for any help offered!

I am having the same problem!

I want to be able to have a special price with start end date on each individual option for a product.

I have spent hours reviewing and searching available extensions but only ones that came close were tied with quantity discounts.

Some would apply the product special to all the options...

T-shirt example with color is a good one. Could also be many types of options.

For example: I have bedding products with options for different sizes, each with a different price (i.e. twin, full/queen, king, etc.) and want to run a special just on one size.

I would think that this has been an issue for many other users.

Thanks for any input. Good luck TToc!

I don't think this is easily done out-of-the-box but you can modify the table `product_special` to take a 'product_option_id'. Might be better to recreate the special functionallity and modify it for your needs.

Thanks for the responses guys :) I hope we can figure this out somehow because i've a feeling it would save a lot of people a lot of hassle!

If anyone can come up with a solution for this It would be greatly appreciated. If possible, please post solutions to this thread if you think you can help. I'm not a coder so I wouldn't know where to begin, but if there are any seasoned plugin developers that think they could create an extension that could do this, i'm sure it would get snapped up!
