no orders

Hi guys

Im new so be nice. I hope you can help
I just did a test run with a purchase of a product and no order seems to have gone through
I entered details, confirmed order, paid at paypal and then return back to site but there is no orders in the admin section?

im using only standard Paypal payment method and latest opencart
i had a quick read of this thread - is this the same problem?

i had a look at Paypal settings and the IPN is set to do not receive - should this be yes? which url do i specify?

also with open cart does it send out a confirmation email to the customer of their purchase? paypal send a payment receipt but i thought the cart would send out another email specifying the order, products etc. Id like to have it send out a customised email detailing information to do with the order etc. and an email to me notifying me of an order

The test mode for PP never seems to make orders. Try the live version

yes unfortunately it was the live version. Do you know what could be going on?
all the paypal side works just nothing coming through the cart

You need to check your paypal account for the IPN HISTORY and see what you see there for HTTP Response. If you see blank or anything other than 200, then paypal ipn is not able to reach your site for some reason. This is usually caused by an htaccess file that redirects incoming urls but there may be other reasons.

whats the HTTP RESPONSE field show?
