I am installing opencart for a chain of stores. There are 5 stores, each store has its own owner (franchisors).
What they want is that at some point, either before beginning to shop, or at checkout, the customer will pick the store for whom he/she is placing the order, and that store will receive an email with the order.
OPTION NO. 1
They are not going to charge for the sale online, the opencart shopping cart will be used as an order taker, the selected store receives the order by email and process it as they like for payment.
OPTION NO. 2
Be able to incorporate both, payment and shipping module for each store. So, if customer selects store #1 for example, it is store #1 who will receive the order by email, and payment to its account if cc was chosen.
How can this be done?

I think Daniel (=OC's father) has done this kind of solutions but haven't heard from anyone else...

Doubt you will get this to happen. It would require all sharing a common database, which could get quite confusing, as all information would be available to all owners.
The solution is to set up a common intro page, listing all of the shops and before making a purchase give the buyer a list of the available stores and then let them chose the one they want. This will link to / call up the proper store - a stand-alone OC.
The franchiser or central office can deliver up-dated databases to the store owners on a schedule, or if there is a central webmaster, the webmaster can import the new items, price changes and discontinued items by importing the database for them.

Hello
I quite admire open cart and believe it is the best open source system when customizations are the order of the day.
we have developed a multi seller system using open cart .
You fill out a form and start a store !!!
Each seller gets an admin for his store
In case anyone needs such a system , our developers will be happy to take you through a demo
Thanks and regards
