What do this mean: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '\"NO_AUTO_VALUE_ON_ZERO\"' at line 1

I cannot get the software to install it keep giving me this error.

Try this.

1. EDIT: install/opencart.sql
2. Remove this line:
SET SQL_MODE="NO_AUTO_VALUE_ON_ZERO";

I removed that line now I get this error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '\'\', `lastname` varchar(32) collate utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL default \'\', ' at line 5

There must be lot of bugs in the SQL installation. I have tried everything to get it to work. I have searched for the answer. I can't seen to find it.

there are no bugs in the sql!

it works for everyone else. this is down to how your server is configured!

try installing wamp on your pc and test it from there. then phone your host and find out why the mysql is not configured properly.

hmm.. it looks ok. Tho it is weird that the error message is printed with escape slashes on everything. I don't think I see that when I get db errors when creating mods

I have been corresponding with the host, by the way is Hostgator, they seem to think its an issue with the install script, and want to know if I want them to attempt to import manually. Quote "If you'd like us to proceed with this, please confirm. Thank you." Can it be import manually?

Very strange. Hostgator is a popular host and I know for a fact it works with OpenCart.

How are you uploading the files? Are you using FTP in Binary mode? (hopefully yes)

To make sure I was uploading the files in Binary mode, I delete all the files and folders and uploaded all fresh files in the Binary mode, and I still got this error. You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '\'\', `lastname` varchar(32) collate utf8_unicode_ci NOT NULL default \'\', ' at line 5. I already import manually, that didn't work either.

If you can possibly make a temp account for me on your ftp, I will take a look. This is very strange

God Bless, and thanks so much for all your help. Hostgator support installed it for me, they said I had magic_quotes_runtime enabled which was causing the extra slashes.
