Hi,

I'm using Opencart Version 1.5.6.1 and have been using the google base product feed.

Its been working fine and showing all products(222) through the link at 'http://www.thebedderplace.co.uk/shop/in ... oogle_base' and also adding them to successfully adding them to our google merchant.

Now suddenly its only showing 63 products, more products have been added but none have be changed and no new modifications have been added.

Has anyone got any idea on this or what could of caused it?

Many Thanks,

I found it usually means there is an illegal character in the description field

thanks for the reply, i've checked the descriptions and other fields of the products that have been included in the feed and the missing products but there isn't any difference between the two.
It's really puzzled us as they were all included a week ago.

It happened me right after I added someone new products. The google base does a crappy job of stripping out bad characters.

I see this error in your feed:

Code: Select all

A semi colon character was expected.
 Line: 1600 Character: 317

</description><g:brand>The Bedder Place</g:brand><g:google_product_category>Furniture > Beds & Accessories > Beds</g:google_product_category><g:brand></g:brand><g:condition>new</g:condition><g:id>342</g:id><g:image_link>http://www.thebedderplace.co.uk/shop/image/cache/data/bedsser/Eleanor HO Day Bed&Guest D-500x500.jpg</g:image_link><g:mpn>Ellie Honey Oak Day Bed - Optional Guest Bed</g:mpn><g:price>199.00</g:price><g:product_type>BED FRAMES > Day Beds & Guest Beds</g:product_type><g:quantity>10</g:quantity><g:upc></g:upc><g:weight>0.00kg</g:weight><g:availability>in stock</g:availability></item><item><title>Ellie Honey Oak Wooden Bed Frame - High Foot End</title><link>http://www.thebedderplace.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=209</link><description><p align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 0.45cm">&nbsp;</p>
So it is the product description for that product that has all the html/css junk in it that is causing google to puke on your feed.

Thanks both for the information. I've removed html/css junk from that description and a few others so i think were on the right track but its still only displaying the same amount of products.
How did you go about to get that error message? I would like to see if another ones coming up as i have a feeling there is more junk in other descriptions.

I use internet explorer. I don't remember if the version I use has a built in XML reader function but it it doesn't then there should be a plug-in that allows it to read your feed and display it properly (if it doesn't have an issue with the feed)....

For your feed it still has formatting in a product.

Code: Select all

A semi colon character was expected.
 Line: 1506 Character: 317

</description><g:brand>The Bedder Place</g:brand><g:google_product_category>Furniture > Beds & Accessories > Beds</g:google_product_category><g:brand></g:brand><g:condition>new</g:condition><g:id>342</g:id><g:image_link>http://www.thebedderplace.co.uk/shop/image/cache/data/bedsser/Eleanor HO Day Bed&Guest D-500x500.jpg</g:image_link><g:mpn>Ellie Honey Oak Day Bed - Optional Guest Bed</g:mpn><g:price>199.00</g:price><g:product_type>BED FRAMES > Day Beds & Guest Beds</g:product_type><g:quantity>10</g:quantity><g:upc></g:upc><g:weight>0.00kg</g:weight><g:availability>in stock</g:availability></item><item><title>Ellie Honey Oak Wooden Bed Frame - High Foot End</title><link>http://www.thebedderplace.co.uk/shop/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=209</link><description><p align="LEFT" class="western" style="margin-bottom: 0cm; line-height: 0.45cm">&nbsp;</p>

Lets try this.... go to this product:
Ellie Honey Oak Wooden Bed Frame - High Foot End
Edit it and remove everything from the description. Then open you feed in a browser. What do you get? OR go into google feed and force it to load it again and see what you get. More products?
