Hello,
Can any Aussie shop owners recommend a paid or free mod that configures the tax invoice to ATO requirements and is suitable for the latest Opencart release? Setting it up is confusing the hell out of me.
Cheers

I'm not sure what all the Australian requirements are, but I do know I've had some Australian customers use my Display Order Totals With Tax extension to show the line items including tax. (OpenCart doesn't have an option to do this.) You can leave the "Taxes" line item enabled to show the total tax, or you can disable it and just show the tax included in each line item.

Are there other Australian requirements beyond this?

Hi Jonathon,
I actually went back to the Tax Office website and believe I can just add the line "Price includes GST" on the tax invoice (as long as there are no tax exempt items on the order). If only I'd read this six months ago :-[ Thanks for the information about your mod though - It might come in handy should I need to include tax exempt items in the future.

I should also add that adding a line "Ïncludes GST" is a temporary workaround to get me up and running as soon as I can. My preferred output on an invoice would be:
A Book Title 100.00
Another Book 50.00
--------------
Total 150.00
Includes GST 13.65

If anyone can inform me of a mod that does this, or something like it, I'd be most appreciative.
Cheers

So you want to enter all prices as GST-inclusive, but still have a line item that reflects the GST amount? Another solution I suggested for someone that does this is to use Total-Based Fee/Discount to add a total-based line item, and then I gave them an edit to make its internal value $0. So it would appear to have a line item of $13.65, but it wouldn't modify the "Total" line item at all.

If you want to do that, let me know and I can give you the edit. Keep in mind that's not part of the tax system, so it wouldn't appear in tax reports in OpenCart if you plan on using those.

Otherwise, if you want to specify your prices as GST-exclusive, Display Order Totals With Tax would work to do what you describe (that is, make the line item GST-inclusive but still show the tax line item).

HI Johnathan,
I've purchased and configured it on my localhost and it looks like this is the solution. Could you display or send me the edit you mentioned that disables adding or subtracting the figure to the total. I'm a very happy camper.

Yes, I can -- please contact me at the e-mail address in the extension files, or www.getclearthinking.com/contact, and I'll send it your way.
