Hi Everyone,

I would be willing to pay for this extension to be made, as long as it is not too labour intensive but I have no idea so hopefully someone can help out.

The idea is to be able to automate the creation of product specials, with a randomly selected discount that automatically refreshes/changes at a certain time interval.

The basic concept is:

1. You could set a special price for every single product, or set a default percentage eg 10 to 20% for all products.
2. You set a number of specials you want to be used at any given time.
3. You set a timeframe until the next specials refresh.

What would happen is each week (or chosen time frame) you would have a completely new set of specials for a certain amount of products. Each special would have its own unique discount which would be between 10 to 20% or whatever the admin sets. This would be calculated using a random number generator.

Then the week after it would randomly select another set of products to become specials and also set a unique discount for each. It would save the admin a lot of time if they are happy to give a certain discount to each product.

The idea is to save the admin time and also keep the customer coming back to your site to keep checking if their favourite product is discounted that week.

Thanks

It's an interesting idea but I'd be a bit concerned as a store owner that my ecommerce store would randomly start discounting products which I didn't have much stock of. I guess the code could account for that though.

Would the extension also need to put those specials on to the front page and promote them? If so it might need to be adapted for different themes etc.

So it's not a totally straight-forward bit of work. Did you have a budget in mind?

The idea works for me as I would be willing to give up to 20% discount on each product so being able to set a max % limit would be ideal. But I see what you are saying so maybe another admin option to be able to exclude certain products or categories would also be good.

I was hoping that it could integrate with the actual opencart product specials and specials page so that you could use the existing modules.

I have seen a website called http://www.yoyopromo.com/index.php. It's the same concept except the discount changes every few minutes to create a sort of rush to get the best discount which I also think is a good idea but obviously a lot more complicated.

Not really sure about budget, as cheap as possible really
