export/import tool won't export or add discounts and special

I am running opencart on joomla using joocart I am able to use the opencart export/ import tool to import my products which all seems to work except for specials and discounts (very important for me) and then I can't export the products back out. I get a fatal error about memory, the thing is I am able to use this tool on another opencart store on the same server. i am also unable to update specials and discounts via db in phpmyadmin Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this issue?

export import tool for 1.5.4 works fine with oc 1.5.6 but the version for 1.5.6 does not work when trying to export.
