Hi, we sell downloadable products and when they are on Pre Order use the stock status to show that and also to add an additional warning in the cary that the file isn't downloadable until it's release date.

The customer completes the order and the download profile goes into the download area, with a file attached, so that if they download and open it they are told that they need to wait. However to discourage customers downloading and us having to reset their remaining downloads all the time I want to add the stock status to the download page.

I'm not a complete coding idiot, so have managed to change the warning message in the cart, move the availability to name to the download area (see pic), but it appears I have reached my ceiling with getting the actual status to show there.

Could someone give me the answer to how I get the stock status as it shows on the product page to the download area?

You help will be very much appreciated and I thank you for your time in advance.

You have essentially made visible to customers what you can see otherwise in admin. If the downloadable stock is 3, and if that is not exhausted, then the account downloading already knows 3. You would normally utilize preordering as a handle upon knowing how many of something to order (were Huddle from a publishere) or having even the process of publication itself prefunded (were Huddle yours).

If they are consistently trigger happy or dense, you can either tell them to wait upon pain of a 100% surcharge for irritating you, or set downloadable stock to 0 until the item is actually available to anyone, and change "Availability Remaining" to instead "Available Remaining; else 0 if not yet released:" (or the like). Some customers will ignore whatever they are supposed to read. (You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it not mark the ground where it stands.)

I think I have been over thinking what I actually want to do, when as you say simply setting the downloads to 0 and then updating them post publication will not allow the download to appear in the relevant section.

Thanks for your help, some times you can't see the wood for the trees eh?

A guy does have to be careful and attentive when surrounded by forest, trees, leaves, and mosquitoes all at once, and the ambling big fuzzy brown thing is a bear.
