switching between templats

Hello,

I'm new to opencart. Like I'v read in the documentation I copied the folder catalog/view/theme/default to catalog/view/theme/robtheme

Then I went to the administration side of my shop. An I did the following things:

system -> settings -> select robtheme as template -> save.

But if I change the css of robtheme nothing happens, if I do the same with the default then the site changes.
So I conclude that my site still uses the default theme, however the robtheme is selected in the administration site.

Can anybody say what I do wrong?

First, you don't copy the entire folder. You only need to create a folder, copy over the image folder, stylesheet folder, the header.tpl file, and then only the tpl files that you are editing. Let the rest fallback to the default folder.

Second, edit the header.tpl file to change the main stylesheet path from
.../default/...
to
.../newname/...
