I have opencart 1.3.4.
Its possible just to update the BackOffice with the 1.4.0 one...
I work so hard on my template I would like to keep the 1.3.4 front shop... and i like the 1.4.0 Admin...

It'd be better to move forward and update your 1.4 installation's theme to look how you want. Mixing and matching versions of the front and back office might bite you in the ass with problems.
