Hi, I hope someone can hel me.
Over the weekend I a placed my website which is hosted by Opencart 1.5.1.3 into maintenance mode via the settings switch as I had to reload/deploy a load of new catalogue data. It was probably only on for 3 or 4 hours. I then regenerated my sitemap.xml and requested a Google index crawl to pick up a load of new changes and SEO considerations I had made.
The next day I tested out my website in Google, and to my horror it was listed with a title "Maintenance". The same had also happened with Bing/Yahoo. The server setting for maintenance mode was definitely switched off. so I had several attempts at resubmitting the home page and shop home page through webmaster tools for indexing. Nothing seem to work. I then tried to remove the page from the Google cache - Google confirmed it had been done, but still no change. After several days my website is still in Google search with the maintenance screen title/description. It also seems that the maintenance page is now cached in various places, I am getting complaints to why my website is in maintenance mode. If I try and access my website all looks fine. My Google search position has dropped well off the 1st page for my main keywords since this problem, which had a healthy ranking before.
I am at a complete loss on how to fix this - any help in getting my website back to its original state would be very much appreciated.
Regards,
Phil
You will get reindexed after a while...from website to website...the timeframe depends...from days to weeks.
