Guide: Installation of Opencart on local server

Help, I'm going nuts....

I've added "127.0.0.1 http://www.example.com # For browser access" to my C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file
and
changed "ServerName localhost:80" in my Apache httpd config file to "ServerName http://www.example.com:80"
(btw in your instructions you have state "ServerName localhost:80 ServerName http://www.example.com:80" on one line which causes Apache to error when starting)

yet in the replies below you state NOT to add "http" to anything

either way, no matter where or where i do not place "http", I can't get http://www.example.com to point to anything other than the "you can use this without permission" page. Localhost goes to "welcome to Xampp" perfectly.

fyi i restart my machine after changing the host file and restart apache after hanging the config file

I've had success installing OC by manually setting up Apache, Mysql, and Php. Use this guide:
http://docs.moodle.org/25/en/Manual_ins ... _and_MySQL. For windows, download the MySql msi installer, download apache, and php zip files. It should take about 1 hour to configure everything and you're done.

Interesting! Long time user of xampp, then wamp, now ampps... But I will try this also!
IMHO could be useful to set up also phpmyadmin or sql buddy to easily manage mysql.

already install, and when i try to register new account, i didnot recieve email from store admin.
My setting for email protocol is Mail. did i miss something?
