Hi guys,
In Opencart there's a Products Viewed Report in the Reports section of admin, which records the number of views for a product, but is there a feature or a mod that records the number of times product was added to a cart. The rationale behind this is that if a product goes out of stock, then the user will only know once s/he views the cart. However, I would also like to know how many times a product, which is out of stock, was considered for purchase to the extent that it was added to a cart. In that way I'll be able to determine more accurately which products proved to be popular.
Is there a mod already out there or is this part of Opencart?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
If stock shows, some people will ignore it, some people will notice it. If stock shows "0", some people will either accidentally or purposely try to buy the product anyway, and some will skip the product. The statistical value you seek is not there -- some customers will notice "0" before, some after, reaching cart, and some of each will refrain or add to cart. If the product goes out of stock, then some customers are bright enough not to order it unless told in effect to order anyway, and otherwise your report would be not useless but not significantly informative (except as to whether customers read, and you already know that some do, some don't).
I guess that makes sense yeah.
I was under the impression that you could block showing how many items there are in stock. Does Opencart not allow that?
If it does, then a buyer won't know how many items are in stock. Hence, when they go to add however many they want of that product to the basket and then proceed to View Cart section to buy it, they could then be told at that late stage of commitment that that item is out of stock. Can this not be done? IMO, that would be a better indicator of how popular an item is because it would indicate the potential buyability of the product.
There are some large retail stores, such as Next here in the UK, who do this.
What are your thoughts?
