Provision for large database of products & categories

Hi,

I very much love the power behind Opencart but I have noticed that when you have around 500 and more categories and 5000+ products then Opencart really slows down, (the front-end at least) I have seen there is extensions available that cache Opencart and truly disable database queries, that speeds OC up very much, but if Opencart can have these programs or something similar in the core it would be very helpful for some people.

Using mysqli helps. There are also settings relative to databases that only system administrators can change but which will probably not be changed -- see typical phpMyAdmin statistical or similar lists of performance, ask support for changes, and usually be told no.
