Hi,

I hope this feature can be build into the core of opencart, it is regarding how the tax are calculated to have the tax inclusive to the price, currently the tax is exclusive for OC 1.5.5.1 and lower, I know in countries like the US once you are at the cashier the tax is calculated for the total, but in some countries like South Africa we calculated the tax inclusive in the retail price so now we need development to switch it around.

I think it could be very useful for some people.

Best Regards,
Lloyd

This is the standard behaviour of OpenCart if configured.

Not true, see 1st answer.
It could be also that your system settings, geozones and taxes are not set correct - if wrong defined, customers will see always the net price.

Only at the basket view and the final summary all kind of totals are displayed (net, tax, shipping cost, total incl. VAT).

Hi @OSWorX,

No my store is setup correctly, an extension to illustrate this is this one:
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... on_id=9798

What we are looking for is when you enter the price (with a tax percentage of 14%) under catalogue ex. 100 then when you view the product individually you will see the price is still 100 and excluding tax it is 86 (Ex Tax: $86) and in your cart you will see your product 100 and the tax would be 14 but the Total will be 100.

I hope not to confuse anyone, (if we use 14% tax percentage)
tax inclusive: South Africa, product (retail price) 100 (ex tax 86)(tax is 14) Cart Total is 100
tax exclusive: United States, product (retail price) 86 (ex tax 73.96)(tax 12.04) Total is 98.04

I hope this illustrates my idea. in short my idea is to have the tax inverted in the way how the tax currently works.

The reason why I think it could be nice to have this feature in the core of opencart is so that other extensions don't collide with each other, I want to use this extension but it doesn't work with "Admin Quick Edit PRO" then this extension can be modified to work with a new version of OC (if it has tax inclusive), paying for customization is no problem, but I think it would be nice if the tax can work inclusive as well as exclusive
