I would like to enable Paypal payment on my store but there are so many Paypal extensions that I have no idea which one to use. On top of that, there are several other commercial Paypal extensions which makes decision even harder.
Could anyone please explain me what's are the main differences between them? If it helps in any way, I'm from Europe (not UK though) and Euro is going to be the only currency.
Thank you!

paypal standard would be the one people usually use
They are for Paypal's different services. Not sure what is available in Europe, but go to Paypal's website and look at their different products.

I plan to use free-standard, not pro services, so if I got it right... If I'd like enable customers to pay with paypal, therefore I should enable PayPal Payments Standard?
But if I'd also like to enable payment using credit cards, I should use PayPal Payflow service, which will place gateway on my store. But I only see Payflow PRO extension, where's the free version (Payflow Link)?
How about Paypal Express, what's the difference in comparison to PayPal Payments standard?

paypal standard would be the easiest way to go . Just a basic business account and redirect your customers to payment on paypal would be the best too, it gives them the confidence to pay

ensure that the minimum total is correct?
that's paypal. authorization requires you to capture the funds, sales is captured immediately upon payment
I've registered Paypal standard business account, confirmed Visa credit card and I still got emails like:

If you've already chosen your solution, and you're ready to integrate it on your website,
go to your setup page, click on start configuration and follow the instructions.
Do I need to enable or change anything else before I can start to receive payments with Paypal standard extension?

It sounds like you didn't follow the instructions in the email and configure your paypal account.
