Hi, I have just started work on updating my site from v1.5.1.3.1 to v1.5.5.1. Generally it all seems ok but I have just started to enter products into admin and the categories/manufacturers are all selected by autocomplete!
I much prefered the old style where you could scroll through and actually SEE the categories. What use is auto complete if you have multiple categories for one product. It takes longer to type each one, wait while autocomplete displays the options etc. Is there a way to go back to the old type or am I stuck with this?
Failing that what was the last version of OC with the old style admin but with the abaility to edit/create orders in admin?

Search box top right, "remove autocomplete 1.5.5.1 solved" yields only "About 69 results (0.31 seconds)" at
https://www.google.com/search?q=remove+ ... encart.com
where you will see that you could have searched for it and are not alone. Sometimes adding to a prior thread draws together and updating into the present what otherwise remains scattered largely because so few people search before posting a new incident of an ongoing problem. Omitting "solved" increases results about ten-fold. So now we have yet another one that does not differ.
Impatience after a mere several hours does not help matters, people who might answer you are strewn all over the globe.

Thanks for the reply. I did search, both on here and on Google. The only thing I didnt add was "solved"
As for impatience, it was more a case of since I posted, it had already got buried under a load of other new posts and had moved well off the first page probably just to be forgotten. In previous experience posts quite often get left answered (including some of the search results I had already found)

That's why when "people who might answer you are strewn all over the globe" as they are, they tend to look beyond the first page, sound bites and sight bites and "bump" don't work well in forums -- any forums. If only the first page of posts were answered, let alone solved, there would be a vast majority of single-post pages. As it is, fairly few dangle is isolation, and then often because they weren't searched or tied together at the outset.
As you can see from search results the feature is not entirely popular, that in turn has been noticed, and as yet no one has dispensed with it. Bumping reiteration of the question in isolation or not has not yet forced an answer.

Just thought I would update.......
Well after a bit of searching I found a way to remove auto complete without having to buy an extension, and before anyone complains about not buying an extension I have bought LOTS of extensions over the last couple of years, but I do object to buying something just to put it back to what was once a standard feature of OC.
I now have a much better admin area to work in with no auto complete and it didn't cost a penny

So a bug of the open source Opencart will be solved by purchasing an extension, through very long time and many complaints about this???
Please tell us how to remove it, or you extension sellers always delete the solution to keep your extensions being bought?
This is crazy!

For the reasons below, the problems expressed above concerning lack or expense of extensions do not float. As for bugs in OC source, the new autocompletion is not a "bug" or "buggy" but a purposeful change in function, and the new autocompletion in and of itself does work but is unpopular -- "Vote Boo" and "Fix Bug" are scarcely the same, let alone when there is no bug.

[...] I give this for free 'cause 99.9% of the code can be found around the web (ie opencart, com and forum). Thus, I find it unethical to charge more than .50$ for this kind of extensions, an opinion not favorable around here I notice. So... here you are. With the PRO version!!!"
