I have searched this out, but the posts I am finding have different needs.
I am sure this should be possible, or at least possible with extensions, but I havn't found an extension that is quite right, or that I'm not sure if the extension I am looking at is the right one.
One of my products is batteries.
These batteries are available in different colors, and sizes.
Colors don't add price bump, but sizes do.
I need to have these options be dependant on each other for inventory control.
Right now I have the batteries as three different products.
regular battery (with options for color)
large battery +5$ (with options for color)
extra large battery +10$ (with options for color)
I would like someone to be able to just pick
Battery,
then a dropdown for the color
and dependant on the stock of each size... a dropdown the different battery sizes.
so if someone chooses the battery item
they are presented with a dropdown to pick colors (if I am out of blue batteries of all sizes, that would be missing)
then when they choose red, it knows I have 10 regular, 5 large and no extra large and offers those options.
when sale is made and stock is changed, there is now 4 red large batteries in inventory.
I also have a product with flavors and concentrations and different sized bottles.
the options don't add value, but need to be inventory specific.
Customer picks Juice Product
Option for Flavor,
Then an option for bottle size
then an option for concentration level - low, med, high, none
So when in admin and adding options, each option could have an option and separate inventory amount.
Any help on this would be appreciated, as this will make it much easier to shop for products on the site when they don't have to keep searching for different products when they are merely different options.
Thanks,
Lars
Not sure, but have you have a look at http://marketinsg.com/dependent-options?
To get around the problem with multiple options in Opencart is not an easy thing. I've tried Openstock as works fine, but for my purpose it will render to many options combinatíons (I'm dealing with t-shirts with prints on). My solution was to create options like this
t-shirt --> white --> small
t-shirt --> white --> medium
t-shirt --> white --> large
and so on. It works fine for me. I also use Option Boost http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... on%20boost to get better controll of the differnet options. Option Boost can set an individual SKU and image to each option. That makes it also easy to update each options quantity for example. The product image will be changed when a customer select an option.
