Product Filtering Returning Too Many Products

Hi, I am setting up a new Catalog for our family electrical retail store. I have about 150 products on there so far, and there will be about 600 in total.

I am setting up filters on all products.

Example: Washing Machine Category is Filtered By:
Load Capacity
Spin Speed
Colour
Energy Rating

If i select just one filter, lets say I filter by 'White' washing machines only, everything works 100%.

However, If i filter by more than one filter, lets say a '1400 RPM' Spin Speed AND 'White' In Colour, I get in my refined search EVERY washing machine with 1400 RPM Spin Speed & EVERY White Washing Machine. Not just those with both.

Is this normal behaviour? Is there a plugin i can get to fix this?
Does anyone else have a problem like this? I done some googling and couldnt find a solution.
Thinking I will write a VQMOD if there is no solution yet.
