Hi,
I got a question and hope anyone can answer it:
I'm working on a shop, which sells and ships different heavy products.
I copied a few flat rate shipping options for different prices, works fine, no problem, but i have to come up with an extra option:
For different weights and sizes, i have 5 shipping options a customer can choose from, but the have to unload it themselves.
For 50,00 extra, the goods can be unloaded by crane
The question is, how can i arrange this?
copy the 5 shipping options and add the 50,00 extra can't be the best solution....
Perhaps using checkboxes instead of radiobuttons, but i really shouldn't know how.
Does anyone have a solution for this one? perhaps there's a mod already out there, but i couldn't find it.
thanks in advance.

Hi Qphoria,
thanks, but it's important to keep product price and shiping completely apart from each other.
It's possible to fetch the products yourself, so this would over-price the products.
Another reason is transparency and competition, the prices must be the best and the customer can determine what he wants to pay voor shipment....
i hope you, or someone else has another idea?

You could use Optional Fee/Discount for this, which would give the customer the option of selecting the "crane uploading", and would then apply the 50.00 fee. The only other option would be to create multiple shipping options like you suggested, because OpenCart can only apply a single shipping method to the cart.
Hi there,
Thank for your reply.
Looks like this is THE solution for me!
In the example however, i see that the extra fee comes up in the checkout as the last step...
Is it possible to place it in the same place as the selection of the shipment?
and besides that: i use one page checkout... is that a problem?
thanks again

The optional fee box is a standard module, so you can place it anywhere a module can normally go. This means you could have it in the side column of the checkout page, or there's some code in the instructions.txt file that instructs you how to embed the module in a non-standard location (like within the shipping step).
Arg you bastard..Johnathan wrote:You could use Optional Fee/Discount for this, which would give the customer the option of selecting the "crane uploading", and would then apply the 50.00 fee.
