Working on a website for a client sells guns and accessories online. (I understand if you don't want to provide help after reading this).

Due to federal regulations in the United States on gun parts (triggers, barrels, bullets, etc) can be shipped to a house but the actual weapon (That makes the whole thing work) has to be shipped to a FFL Dealer (Federally Licensed Firearms Dealer).

I am looking for an extension that would make this possible. Or something close that I could modify to make to fit my needs.
  • -If the user selected a pre assembled gun, it would have to be shipped to an FFL dealer, the user would type in there zip code and search a database that I already have for nearby FFL dealers.
-If it was a gun part, it would not display this option and just ask for a shipping address.
-If the order consists of a weapon and parts it would ask for both forms and the company could ship the parts to the home and then ship the weapon to a dealer.
Please let me know if you can help. I have been browsing the extensions marketplace and am coming up empty.

Thanks

Probably the simplest is to set up separated products, "parts is parts" and "firearms is firearms" (bullets can still be shipped the easy way?), so that shipping choices are assigned correspondingly, hassle-free, hassle-laden, and then to advise that each firearm (hassle-laden) must be in a firearm-only order. One way to enforce that is to provide a checkout now for each weapon. Customers will understand that Uncle Sam and Br'er State are lookin' at 'em and this is the simple way to streamline the nonsense. Or that can be politely but pithily said.

You might also search web-wide for something like "gun dealers" + "opencart" + "on-line" and see what other dealers have already chosen to do. You could then call a few of them and chew on it a bit.

It still says "shall not be infringed" and the words still mean what they did but here we are. Let us hear rounds of applause for the men with walnut hammers, wearing black dresses, and for legislative infinite wisdom, from the elected funnyfarms.
