We've created a store over the last year or so selling laptop parts - http://www.laptopbits.co.uk
We're pleased with it so far, but there are still many areas we'd like to improve - mobile and tablet support, Amazon payments and much more. Any comments are welcome.
I'd like to add a few comments for the benefit of anyone starting out. Opencart seems to be more of a community, rather than a traditional business. It's possible to achieve things at low cost, very quickly, that would have taken far longer and cost thousands just a few years ago. I've been both impressed and very frustrated at times over the last twelve months.
My own view is that if you are looking to create a successful, profitable ecommerce site using opencart and you don't have in house expertise you need several things in place:
1. A designer, someone who can get the graphics right
2. In the nicest possible sense, a geek, or more probably several geeks, who can get the programming bits right
3. Someone who knows how to address the SEO side of things
4. On open mind - look for improvements to both your site and the back office administration
5. Project management
The first two are available and many are good, the third I haven't found yet, and the fourth is up to you, but the project management is one thing you need above all else, someone with basic techincal skills, good knowledge of your business, and a real understanding of the power of Opencart. I've ended up in this role myself, without really realising it was happening or how important it was.
Anyway, a big thanks to all that have helped so far!
Tony

Hi there,
I do like your website. But the only thing I would say.
You have a button for live chat. When you are not online I would sugguest you either remove it completely or I would add the times you are available for live chat. Its people off if they just see that you are not available without know when you are.
Just my two cents.

CAn you not add a text line below the code of the Chat Button HTML?Laptopbits1 wrote:Not a bad idea but the option for either doesn't seem to be there unfortunately.
