Fairly new to this program... I hope I have just missed a setting or mod that will do this.
We want to be able to charge a flat rate per item and different items would have a different shipping charge.
Additionally... If a customer places an order and the shipping for this item is, say... $9 but they order 2 or more... The additional items (of the same product) would have an additional shipping charge of $4
Any help would be appreciated.
You can do this with Product-Based Shipping, although if you aren't able to group your products into rate groups (such as all the $9 + $4 per item products) then you could end up with a lot of rates. That's not a big issue, but it could take time to set up.
If you can figure out a flat cost + per item cost for each product, then you can use a weight-based extension to do it as well. For example, you would set that example product to a weight of 4, and use Weight-Based Shipping to charge $5.00 + $0.01 for every 0.01 unit of weight. So the first item would end up being $9.00, and each subsequent item of that product would be an additional $4.00. That may or may not work for your products, since the $5.00 cost would always have to be the same.
