When creating a sitemap using a program that crawls the site, I notice that some product URL's are being duplicated.
For example, a product that is in my 'mattresses' category is returned twice like this;
www.mywebsite/beds/mattresses/budget-mattress.html (which is what it should be)
and again as
www.mywebsite/beds/budget-mattress.html (without the category folder)

Pasting either URL into the browser does bring up the same product.
How can I stop this duplication from occurring?
I am running OC 1.5.2.1

it doesn't really matters, since they are accessed from different URL which caused that. There's a meta rel canonical in the header of the source code, so google will know they belong to the same page.

Opencart generates lots of duplicated product and category urls by default. There is no breadcrumb in the default canonical product url which is not seo friendly. Just referee this post: http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=107584
