I have the "stock" FedEx shipping module working fine EXCEPT for the fact that no "residential flag" is being passed to them, resulting in no redidential rates (Home Delivery) coming back to the cart. How can I fix that?

UPDATE - purchased Qphoria's FedEx WSDL, turned on the "Residential" flag, and it works great.

I have also asked that an addition be made to it that takes an entry in the "Company" field and override residential to allow "Ground" mode to be selected.

Thoughts on simply adding a checkbox?

It could either be "Residential Address" and be checked by default, requiring the cutomer to uncheck it for a business, or "Business Address" that would have to be checked.

Qs wsdl extension has that feature built in. For some reason it is not working on my version oc 1.5.6, not sure if it is all the extensions I have loaded. I looked at the code and it is testing $address['company']. What version of oc are you using?

hmm so when you have a company filled in, it isn't setting the residential flag to 0?

Q,
I just did a little more testing, and it does get set when I go to the next checkout page to finalize - I think it has to do with the one page checkout module that I am using - not yours - yet. :)

Since this extension, quick Checkout
http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... 20checkout

Updates the shipping quotes on the same page, I don't think the $address['company'] gets set for use when calling your module.
Is there another session variable that could be tested for the shipping_company field?
