Hi there

Just upgraded from the old 1.4x platform to the 1.5.5.1 (didn't want the 1.5.6 - but that's another story!!)

I would be pleased to hear your feedback - good or bad - visit - http://www.secureusb.co.uk

ALSO, I have been trying to style the left side column where our products (best Sellers / Top Products and Offers) are shown so that the description is to the right of the image. However, when I do this it adversely affects the "Refine Search / You may also like these" boxes which are on the main part of the page.

It seems to be a styling problem with the "box.product" - when you re-style it in CCS stylesheet it affects the ones in the main page too - Would ideally like something that just affected the side column. Does anyone know how to fix this???

Anyway your comments please.

Thanks

I Like it

IMHO the Free delivery + van overwhelms the page (to the detriment of seeing what you sell) especially since this info is also repeated in the header

If you arrived at your site on a product from say Google - there is no indication that prices are ex VAT - this is VERY bad

In T&C's: "7.4 Goods ordered in error will only be accepted back if in pristine condition as clause c. above and will be subject to a re-stocking fee, at the discretion of the vendor, of up to 100% dependant on the circumstances."

Where is clause c. ??
dependant is spelt wrong
Restocking fees are ILLEGAL please read and understand DSR

Hi DMSIMS

Thank you very much for your reply - always good to get a fresh pair of eyes looking over things.

I have amended the minor errors you pointed out.

With reference to the DSR - I note your concerns and shall take it up with our MD upon his return from holiday.

In terms of home page - I know what you mean about the FREE Delivery Banner - this being a hangover from the previous platform when we used a large banner on the home page to advertise all our product categories etc....

In terms of the VAT - Primarily the site is aimed at business, and businesses usually talk ex VAT when purchasing. However, the header logo says - ALL PRICES PLUS VAT. I wish Opencart added the plus VAT price underneath the ex VAT price as it does (vice versa) when you display prices inc VAT (underneath it say price ex VAT)

Once again, thank you for your feedback

Kind regards

You'll find several things amongst box. and .product and column. and .left and such to play with. Most people do not have the problem. You also started a separate thread on that, http://forum.opencart.com/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=108162 .

As for VAT nuances, search a few threads top right, and look at the extensions store.

From there, downhill.

Overall, that I actually don't like it doesn't matter. It's mundane.

I see that I am informed several times that shipping is free within the one and only UK. I see from fonts and duplications that free shipping with the one and only UK is impliedly the most important single aspect of the landing page. However, I do rather like the little red lorry, even while it is too big on the page.

More people seem to find and copy boilerplate than to read and understand it before publically showing it.

The face-saving retort is inappropriate as to "minor errors [he] pointed out," he was being helpful, even little blunders in a text having legal consequences are not minor. Yes, legal consequences. "This contract is and shall be deemed to have been made in England and shall in all respects be governed by English Law." Quite right, pip, pip. I thought they nowadays call it United Kingdom in legalese. That lawyers do this sort of thing makes it all the more laughable when contemplating 4 gb Imation thumb drives: "by reason of war, (whether declared or not), civil strife, riots, adverse weather conditions, fire, flood, labour disputes, accidents or any other causes or circumstances beyond our control" you are protected by mere boilerplate against whomever any court in its right mind would throw out of court. However, even that absurdly comprehensive line of boilerplate would not protect you against a court that is not in its right mind -- not only do you have a stray comma ("war, ") to invite pedants' unique means of play toward untoward ends as courts are all too often wont to do, but you neglected to add cometary and asteroidal strikes, solar flares, power outages, Parliamentary or other decrees, and two-year olds (whom even the military finally figured out should be deployed to test Bradleys and such because the toddlers do not know their own strength and make no assumptions about what not to try to overpower). What 4 gb Imation thumb drive does not deserve all of that precautionary legal attention? Any.

Imation at those prices? Not over here. But, then, over here you actually can track down fatuously "designer" flipflops made in China, for what would be more than 100 genuine Crowns made in England.

Hi there

Thank you for your feedback.

Every link back to "home" points to http://www.secureusb.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home

I think this is just how opencart works unless i'm missing something (I have 4 opencart sites and they all do the same). Any advice on how to fix this issue would be appreciated.

I believe that it is something to do with canonical urls (or lack of in opencart) however checking my "google account/webmaster" google appear to disregard duplicate pages when indexing my site.

Regards, Anthony

The index.php files (store, admin) self-execute repeatedly based upon changes in input coming into or looping back through index.php, and each new iteration (call it a cycle) typically specifies where it is heading as index.php?route[...] and going "home" shows as "http://www.secureusb.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home" accordingly. You can "hide" it but not get rid of it. Robots are not fooled by it, they (are encoded to) understand that "home" is the starting point. If the route is to a category or to a product, then the route shows that instead. It is not broken, do not try to fix it. The "http://www.secureusb.co.uk/index.php?route=common/home" m-e-a-n-s "http://www.secureusb.co.uk" which in turn m-e-a-n-s the index file, which happens to be index.php which happens to self-execute showing its route.

Hi there,

You have a spelling mistake on
http://www.secureusb.co.uk/keelog-key-logger-usb-8mb

At the bottom of the product discription you mention that people should check if the "model" is compatable and you have spelt the word Model "maodel"

Don't know if this is just for one page or over the whole website.

Hi Butte

Found a free extension that changes the home page (getting rid of the index.php?route=common/home) - search for this if anyone needs it: Route Home Link to Web Site (VQMod)

Did this before you stated that "It is not broken, do not try to fix it". But everything seems fine - maybe it is just hiding it!!!

Thank you for your input.

Hi vipster247

Very well spotted - it was on a few pages - purely a typo which I have now corrected. Thank you for pointing it out.

It's hiding where the machine can see it but you can't, so that's plenty good enough.
