Hi,
I just started using PayPal Standard as a payment method.
Everything works fine, the transaction goes to Paypal, I receive the money in my Paypal account and the order displays fine in the admin area.
However, I get the following error in the Error Log:
2013-06-28 13:44:14 - PP_STANDARD :: IPN REQUEST: cmd=_notify-validate&mc_gross=6.04&invoice=&...
2013-06-28 13:44:14 - PP_STANDARD :: IPN RESPONSE: INVALID
Is it something I need to worry?
The shop is multilingual (Greek/English) and the product names are in Greek (UTF8). Is this why I am getting an invalid IPN Response?
Cheers!
The problem was IPN's Encoding (Windows-1253). I solved it by changing it to UTF-8.
To do that you'll have to do the following:
1. Login into your Paypal account
2.Click on "Profile"
3. Select "My Selling Tools"
4. At the bottom of the screen click on "PayPal button language encoding"
5. Press "More Options"
6. Change both drop-downs to UTF-8 (The "Do you want to use the same encoding for data sent from PayPal to you (e.g., IPN, downloadable logs, emails)?" radio button should be to yes)
7. Save and you're done
Status in Error Log: IPN RESPONSE: VERIFIED
Cheers

FYI - as paypal recently updated (read:"obliterated") their website these settings can now be found by clicking the little Person icon next to "Log Out" in the upper right hand corner and selecting "Profile and Settings". Took me way to long to find this area on the new website, hope this helps.
