Hi,

I need the following developing and wondered if anyone would be willing to create this for me - happy to pay a reasonable price.

A client sells sheet metal, which they cut to bespoke sizes for a customer.

The customer needs to be able to...

1. Browse to their product (ie - aluminium sheet)
2. Enter the width and height they require in mm
3. Select the thickness they require from a dropdown list (in mm)
4. Select additional options, such as pre-drilled holes (at a standard cost per hole)
5. Select is they want a polished finish which will be 25% of the cost of the final product

The product will be prices per square metre

The page should then dynamically calculate the actual cost of their requirements and be able to add all the relevant details to their shopping cart.

For example

Aluminium sheet = £10 per square meter

Customer set width of 2000mm and height of 20000mm : making 4 square metres

Customer selects drop down thickness of 5mm

calculation of product - £10 X 4 (square metres) x 5 (mm thickness) to give a final price of £200

The customer add 5 holes at £1 each, total price now = £205

Customer selects polishing, adding additional £50 (25% of £200, not £205)

Final price = £255

Each product must be able to set it's own square metre price and it's own thickness value (for example, a 5mm thickness might only increase the price by 1.5 for product A, by 2.7 for product B and by 4.98 for product C etc.

Any takers?

Wow. On this side of The Pond that would go over alike a lead balloon, metal over here is a touchy-feely sort of thing, hands-on, a guy-thing, and quite a few of the chaps who sell it and machine it don't get along well with keyboards and want to hear what's wanted from customers' own mouths, on the spot, where usual misunderstandings about metal and gauges and holes and whatever can be spotted and solved on the spot. Moreover, quite a few customers want to lay eyes upon whoever will be messing with their metal -- after that. Both, if they really know what they're doing, also want to know just who produced the alloyed and milled, extruded, etc., metal in the first place. Every alloy number is supposed to mean something very specific; doesn't always come out that way on workbench or floor.

Short answer, doable. There is probably already an extension that can be adjusted for the purpose, dunno, dinna look.

. . . and as you can see at http://www.opencart.com/index.php?route ... =grouppiex it is not an isolated response to the original question, it follows similarly differentiated extensions.

We do custom programming, so anything is possible, our url shows what we're capable of, for opencart we do calculation mods, and the ones listed are only a few of the type of mods we have done.
