Set Language in URL -OC 1.5.5.1

Hi,

I have read a lot of posts about the possibility to build an HTML link to an opencart page with the specification of language property.

I have understand the only way to support this feature in OC 1.5.5.1 is to install an extension ( the older versions have the ?language=de option ).

Is right ?
Or there is a solution without extension ?
