I run a training company and want to market training courses alongside products. Do you have any advice on suitable themes?
Honestly you just need to get in there and take a look around.
Consider these things:
-Your over all goal and what you are selling/offering
-What colors and fonts would your customer base be more geared to
-Perhaps a training course site would have a CLEAN/SIMPLE look.

I've just built a training platform off the back of OpenCart. Stripped away all the store code and used the underlying OpenCart framework.
