We have been using OpenCart since last June and are very impressed with it. We have modified the front end and back end slightly to get what we need from it but have not done a lot to the appearance because we like it vanilla.
Anyone who claims that OpenCart is not PCI-Compliant is a liar. We have achieved PCI-Compliance with OpenCart running on our server with very little modification to the original OpenCart code. The only thing we did was to change a few cookies to http only but that is all.
